Countdown to Ireland- Update 2

We're getting down to the nitty gritty here! We leave in T-minus 4 days and I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. I'm doing that whole thing where you say, "this time next week I'll be...." so yeah, I've been doing that a lot!! We only have a few more things to nail down and then we're set. I tried to pack this weekend so I wouldn't be stressed on Saturday night and in that stress leave something important like- oh you know, my passport!, but I realized that pretty much 90% of what I want to pack I will also need until we leave, soooo that means I'll end up marathon packing on Saturday night anyway. What I did do was get all of the important paperwork printed out and placed safely together in one easy packet- so I guess that's most important. If I forget my underwear at least I'll be in a city and well there is something exotic about Irish underwear right? Okay, not exactly exotic but I will say I've never bought underwear outside of the US before so that might be kinda fun. Sometimes practical souvenirs are the best anyway.

I've started a nightly ritual where I watch a recap of the Irish nightly news on RTE and then I end going down the slippery slope of Irish television. I started off with documentaries but now my friends, I'm a bit ashamed to admit I've succumbed to reality TV. BUT this is Irish reality TV, so I don't feel so bad and their reality TV just seems less trashy. I'm kind of obsessed with Ireland's Fittest Family, which is exactly what it sounds like. They searched all of Ireland for fit families to compete against one another in a series of obstacle courses. I couldn't just sit there eating a snack, I had to pick up my weights and do some strength training while they kicked some booty on these courses- that can't be bad right? It got my bum out of a chair!

I'm also pleased to report that the previous crazy weather that I was nervous about (see 1st update HERE) has subsided and the flooding and gale force winds have died down and now it's just regular winter weather. Whew, dodged a bullet there!!

So now we're just waiting for our Euros to arrive at the bank and a phone call to the cottage owners to enquire about picking up our key. It'll be here before I know it and I just can't wait!
